BIKE WORKS BEACH ‘N SPORTS COMING TO WAIKOLOA BEACH RESORT QUEENS’ MARKETPLACE JULY 2010

WAIKOLOA, Hawaii – Queens’ MarketPlace — a 135,000 square-foot family-friendly shopping, dining and entertainment complex within Waikoloa Beach Resort — welcomes Bike Works Beach ‘n Sports to the family of more than 36 shops and eateries that call Queens’ MarketPlace home. The shop is set to open July 1, 2010.

Perfect for vacationers looking to stay active while visiting the Big Island, or for local residents interested in competing in a triathlon or starting a new hobby, Bike Works Beach ‘n Sports is a one-stop shop for swimming, biking, running and beach gear needs on the sunny Kohala Coast. The new shop will carry Specialized bicycles, components and accessories plus top brand name beach and sport apparel including Pearl Izumi, Louie Garneau, Oakley, Teva and Keens.

Bike Works Beach ‘n Sport will also offer quality bicycle rentals for road, triathlon, mountain biking and comfort riding. Rental costs are dependent on model of bicycle and range from $20 to $60 per day. Rentals include bike, helmet and flat tire repair kit.

“We are very happy to be joining the Waikoloa Beach Resort family,” says Janet Higa Miller, co-owner Bike Works Beach ‘n Sports. “When deciding upon the location of a sister store to Bike Works Kona, we took into consideration our Waikoloa, Hawi, and Waimea consumers as well as those visiting the Big Island. Queens’ MarketPlace is an ideal location because it allows us to provide our local and visiting customers with quality bike and beach sport necessities.”

The shop will also host the First Annual Bike Works Beach ‘n Sport 5k – 10k Walk/Run and Free Keiki Dash to benefit The Waikoloa Foundation on July 11, 2010. Entry fees for the 5k are $25; 10k entry fees are $30. All race participants will receive a Bike Works Beach ‘n Sports finisher’s towel, post race refreshments and a chance to win great prizes throughout the event including Lavaman Waikoloa Triathlon Race entries for 2011. Race registration tables opens at 7:00 a.m. and the race will begin at 8:00 a.m. in Queens’ MarketPlace. Event entry forms are available at www.bikeworkskona.com.
